Before the dust settles on the month of June, it’s testimony time!
But first, some preliminaries…
Around a handful of years ago, I ran into someone in the public square who shared with me their plight.
I told this person I would pray for them and said person said thank you and I walked away.
Immediately, I regretted not praying for this person right then and there.
The guilt I felt was so strong that I told myself I would never let that happen again.
Since then, before I leave the house, I ask God to help me while I’m out and about not to miss an opportunity to let my light shine, encourage someone, PRAY for someone, or invite someone to church.
Earlier this month on a Saturday, my husband, Shawn and I went to a show at the Gaslight Theatre in Tucson, Arizona to help kick off his 50th birthday the next day.
When this family friendly show ended, we walked outside into a lovely night.
It wasn’t completely dark out yet; the temperature was nice and there happened to be a car show going on in the immediate area.
Shawn heads in the direction of the car show without consulting me but it’s okay because it’s his birthday weekend so I just chug along and go for the ride.
We take our time looking at all the cars, some were very old, some newer.
Hoods were propped open, exposing parts clean enough to eat off of.
Proud owners sat next to their babies, shooting the breeze with each other.
Shawn and I mapped our way through all the cars, and we were almost to the end when we saw a “sister” from our church.
She was there showing her car along with her husband, or is it her boyfriend? Unfortunately, I can’t remember. He too was showing one of his cars.
They were there with two friends.
Shawn and I talked for a little bit with them then we said, goodbye.
I threw in a “God bless” for good measure and one of their friends said something along the lines that because I had said, God bless, he wanted to let us know that the other friend’s mom who has dementia, was missing.
It had happened earlier in the day and a police report had been filed.
I wasted no time walking up to the man whose mom with dementia went missing.
I asked him if Shawn and I could pray for him right then and there and he said, yes.
Shawn and I each put a hand on this man and prayed in Jesus name that his mom would be found.
On the way home and the next morning as I was getting ready for church, I told God what a wonderful testimony it would be for this man to have his mom back home safe and sound.
At church during the offering, the sister we saw at the car show, came up to me and told me that the friend whose mom had gone missing had called them earlier to let them know, mama was home!

Prayer works. Thankful you and Shawn were sensitive to the need of others in Jesus name.
Amen!
